We should strike a balance between unity and diversity, should acknowledge differences, contradictions, conflicts, etc. “Harmony” doesn’t follow the same pattern, and “differences” can exist side by side and promote each other. Thirdly, “All under heaven are of one family”. The world belongs to all the people. Only when the world is common can people live a happy life. Fourthly, “Golden mean”. We should have a good grasp of “scale” and “restraint” and always maintain a calm and peaceful state. “Sobornost” is originated in Russia’s “community” or Eastern Orthodox Church. In the 1840s, Russian Slavophiles believed that the community and the Orthodox Church were the special factors that made Russia superior to the West, and “Sobornost” is the identity of Russian people with a common belief in the Orthodox life. 1 It also reflects the idea of diversity and unity. There is a high coherence and correspondence between “Harmony Culture” and “Sobornost”. “Harmony Culture” is embodied in the goal of building a “Harmonious Socialist Society”.At the Fourth Plenary Session of the 16th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in 2004, it was clearly stated for the first time that we should “continue to mobilize all positive factors as widely and fully as possible to constantly enhance our ability to build a harmonious socialist society” and “lead the people of all ethnic groups in China to achieve national prosperity, national rejuvenation, social harmony and people’s happiness.” 2 It is the first time that “construction of harmonious society” is juxtaposed with economic, political and cultural construction and highlighted in a document of the Communist Party of China. “Harmony culture” is also reflected in the diplomatic concept of building “a Human Community with a shared future”. The 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012 clearly stated that “we should promote the consciousness of a Human Community with a shared future”, that “we should accommodate the legitimate concerns of other countries while pursuing our own interests.” In 2013, President Xi Jinping visited Russia and delivered a speech at Moscow State Institute of International Relations, telling the world about the peaceful trend of human civilization. The diplomatic concept of “Human Community with a shared future” was put forward at many important occasions, such as Boao Forum for Asia, the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, report of the 19th National Congress of the CPC, the BRICS Summit, the CPC in Dialogue withWorld Political Parties High-Level Meeting, and the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations. In March 2018, the amendment to the Constitution was adopted, which included “developing diplomatic relations and economic and cultural exchanges with other countries, promoting the building of a Human Community with a shared future” in the preamble to the constitution.
