XVI main thing is that the village was destroyed. Except for one sauce pot, everything was reduced to a pile of ashes. Jugs left in the middle ofAdiba’s ash heap, and the surrounding silence makes this place look like a cemetery. A person who has forgotten or forgiven this situation wonders if he deserves this name. They stop at a ramshackle house on the outskirts of the village. Then, out of boredom, the main character starts wandering around the piles of ashes: « 장독대 옆에서 있는 바짝 마른 나뭇가지에서 꽃망울이 부푸는 것을 보았다. «I saw that the dry branches of the tree near the place where the sauce jugs stood were beginning to sprout. It was a magnolia tree. The still hard bark had softened to the point where it looked soft, but I knew that if this tree felt the spring mood, it would produce countless buds... «wow this looks crazy» I exclaimed. Frankly, I didn’t think of the tree as a person, on the contrary, I had become a tree. It was a fearful voice when I turned into a tree and awoke from my long winter’s sleep and saw the foolish act of a cruel human being». Here, the poet recalls the road incidents during his escape. When they were fleeing, they traveled only at night, during the day they could not travel due to various explosions and bombings. Even when they were walking in the dark, guards were always standing on the road and checking their ID cards. In this situation, every fugitive thought that no one would notice that the front line had passed before dawn in the house where he had stopped for the night. They dreamed that the dawn would come and welcome a peaceful, changed world. On their way home, they see a blooming magnolia tree filling a yard. He thought that the white magnolia tree rarely blooms. The magnolia, which had been blooming white for a long time in the abandoned house, seemed to be emitting a white mist from itself: « 잡기라고는 하나도 안 섞인 순수한 백색이면서 그렇게 처절한 백색은 처음이었 다. «It was white, it was the first time I saw such a scary white color. White seemed to have peaked. I wanted to scream «she’s crazy!» as I did when I saw a sprouting magnolia sprout in a completely ruined village when I was fleeing to the north. This time it was more scary than crazy». 1 박완서 .
